NAIROBI NATIONAL PARK is a unique wildlife conservation area located in Nairobi, the capital city of Kenya. It holds the distinction of being the only national park in the world situated within a capital city’s boundaries. The park covers an area of approximately 117 square kilometers (45 square miles) and is located just a few kilometers south of the city center, making it easily accessible to visitors.
Established in 1946, Nairobi National Park serves as a crucial sanctuary for a diverse range of wildlife, offering them a protected habitat amidst the urban landscape. The park’s ecosystem comprises open grass plains, scattered acacia bushes, riverine forests along the Nairobi River, and a man-made dam called the Hippo Pool. Visiting The Giraffe Centre is the creation of the African Fund for Endangered Wildlife (A.F.E.W. Kenya), a Kenyan non-profit organization. Our main purpose is to educate Kenyan school children and youth on their country’s wildlife and environment, as well as give local and
international visitors an opportunity to come into close contact with the world’s tallest species.
