DAY 2 Morning and afternoon game drives

Your morning and afternoon game drives take you in search of Africa’s Big Five and other wildlife in Maasai Mara. While here, you become a part of nature. The vast grassland is filled with life; plains game including wildebeest, gazelle, topi, zebra and buffalo abound in the rolling savannah, and never far away lay the predators; cheetah, lion and hyena. Our Maasai guides will share their knowledge about every species with you, and make your stay warm and special.

Day 3 Camp tour

Join your guide for a camp tour and learn about some of the operational elements that have made Basecamp Maasai Mara a leading pioneer in responsible tourism. Visit Basecamp Maasai Brand one of our capacity-building projects that helps women improve their financial independence. Top off your walk with a visit to the tree plantation area. Learn about Basecamp’s reforestation project that is intended to re-wild the Mara. We encourage our guests to contribute to offsetting their carbon footprint by planting a tree at a minimal fee. Later you will be transferred to your next destination Eagle View in Mara Naboisho. Enjoy dinner at the restaurant with the sounds of the bush surrounding you.

DAY 4 Naboisho Conservancy

Set out for today’s game drive in Mara Naboisho. Naboisho Conservancy has become renowned for its bountiful biodiversity and breathtaking beauty. The density of lions within Mara Naboisho Conservancy is one of the highest in Africa, with a population of more than 70 identified lions who use it as their home territory. After your morning activities, plan to visit Koiyaki Guiding a capacity-building institution supported by Basecamp Explorer. The school offers a training course for students aspiring to be professional guides. Wind up your day watching the sunset over the African horizon, with a Basecamp sundowner on an evening game drive. When driving back to camp you will have a night game drive experience.

DAY 5 Walking Safari

Now that you have acclimated to the African bush, it’s time for a walkabout! A few hours of walking with your guide gives you an opportunity to not only see Africa’s magnificent landscapes and wildlife but also to hear, smell, feel, taste, and intimately sense what our earliest ancestors and later explorers experienced while traveling on foot. Return to camp later in the morning for a hearty breakfast. The rest of the morning is at leisure. The afternoon game drive is something to look forward to an abundance of wildlife that will keep you entertained. Return to camp for dinner. Savour a delicious meal in the restaurant before falling asleep to the sounds of the African night.

Day 6 Eagle View overlooks a natural waterhole

Enjoy your morning at leisure. Eagle View overlooks a natural waterhole, which is frequented throughout the day by wildlife such as elephants, giraffes, and antelopes providing plenty of wildlife actions in the comfort of the camp’s environs. Later, you will be transferred to Leopard Hill. All the tents overlook large watering holes so excellent sightings are common even from the camp. In the evening rest by your private fireplace enjoying the sights and sounds of Africa all to yourselves.

DAY 7 Early morning and afternoon game drives from the camp

Wake up at dawn to an array of optional safari activities including morning yoga, early morning and afternoon game drives from the camp. As the camp is situated in a private conservancy the number of camps and vehicles here is strictly limited, offering an exclusive safari experience. During your evening game drive, enjoy the safari ritual of sundowner drinks as the dusk gently deepens around you and the sun sinks slowly over the Mara plains.

DAY 8 Game drive or a walking safari in the conservancy.

Today in the company of your Maasai guide head out for a game drive or a walking safari in the conservancy. The area around Leopard Hill is restricted from motorized vehicles so you are able to enjoy the scenery without disturbance. Enjoy the rest of your day at leisure. You can choose to treat yourself to a relaxing massage session in the comfort of your tent (at an extra cost book with reception). End your day with a stargazing experience right inside your tent where you have a retractable roof that gently slides back for a perfect nightly scene.

Day 9 Spend your last day at leisure

Spend your last day at leisure. Enjoy a self-instructed yoga session in the morning or join your guide for your last game drive or walking safari. Now that your safari has come to an end, ensure you pack up all your belongings as you get ready to say your goodbyes to the African Bush. After lunch, your guide will transfer you to the airstrip in time for your scheduled flight to Nairobi to catch your onward flight.
